Ranchu

Ranchu (Ranchu Goldfish – English) or Buffalo is one of the most popular and valuable fish in Asia, in particular in China and Japan, where there is a developed industry for breeding this variety of Goldfish. In addition, certain traditions are associated with it, for example, in China it is customary to view Rancha from the side, and accordingly keep it in high aquariums, and in the Land of the Rising Sun, on the contrary, you should look at the fish from above, which is why they are kept in shallow bowls.

Ranchu

The fish has a short massive and rounded body, with a wide back. Fleshy outgrowths develop on the head, somewhat reminiscent of raspberries, the Lionhead has a similar structure. However, the Ranchu has a higher and curved back contour, the caudal fin is noticeably more modest, can be divided into three or four parts. The most popular coloration is two-tone – a white body with speckles and red head growths.

The content is relatively simple, but unlike its close relatives (common goldfish, Shubunkin, Comet), it is less hardy, not suitable for open water bodies (pond, lake). The shape of the body is not conducive to fast swimming, therefore, fish of the same species or a similar structure should be selected as neighbors, for example, Lionhead, Oranda, Ryukin, etc. Otherwise, you may encounter a problem when feeding, when fast fish will eat all the food, and Rancha stay hungry.
