How to combine dry and wet diets?

The benefits of a dry diet

Dry food thanks to its texture, it has a positive effect on the condition of the dog’s oral cavity. Gnawing the granules, the pet massages the gums and cleans the teeth from plaque. An important advantage of dry food is the content of a large amount of fiber: once in the intestines of the animal, it stabilizes its work.

The Benefits of a Wet Diet

These feeds saturate the pet’s body with fluid, which not only prevents dehydration, but also minimizes the risk of urolithiasis. At the same time, wet diets have a lower calorie content compared to dry food. This allows for the prevention of obesity, which is especially needed by animals living in urban areas and limited in their activity.

Feed combination

The optimal balance of nutrients for the animal is achieved only by a combination of dry and wet food. The owner needs to ensure that the pet has the opportunity to eat rations of both types daily.

Wet food is given to the animal 1-2 times a day. Dry – Twice a day according to the recommendations for serving volume (usually they are indicated on the package).

Mixing rations in one dish is not worth it – each type requires a separate container. At the same time, it is necessary to provide the pet with constant access to fresh water.
