What gender of a dog to choose

Sometimes, when choosing a puppy, future owners do not know who to choose: a male or a female. What gender is the best dog to take?

The answer to this question cannot be unambiguous and depends, first of all, on your preferences. Although there are things to consider.

Males tend to be larger and stronger than females, more independent and more adventurous. There is an opinion that training a dog is a little more difficult. In addition, smelling a bitch during estrus, some males completely lose their heads and completely forget about the owners, so they can rush off into unknown distances. Moreover, a male can be interested in the opposite sex all year round, unlike a female, whose interest in breeding is limited to certain periods. But the male will not “bring in the hem” unwanted offspring.

Bitches, as a rule, are smaller than males and more docile, easier to train. They are also considered more devoted. But twice a year, bitches go into heat, which lasts an average of three weeks. And during this period, you will have to be very careful to prevent the appearance of puppies that you did not plan to acquire. In addition, during estrus, the bitch cannot participate in many activities. However, if the bitch is spayed, she will not go into heat.

However, all of the above (except for physiology, of course) is just “average temperature in the hospital,” and a particular puppy may not fit into this framework at all. In any case, the main thing is the individual characteristics of the particular baby you like and upbringing.

With the right approach to raising and training a pet, he will certainly please you. And it doesn’t matter who it is – “boy” or “girl”.
