Shrimp King Kong

The King Kong shrimp (Caridina cf. cantonensis “King Kong”) belongs to the Atyidae family. It is the result of artificial selection, a close relative of the Red Bee. It is still unknown whether this variety has become a breeding success or a banal but successful mutation of breeders.

Maintenance and care

They are unpretentious in terms of water parameters and diet, they accept all types of food used in feeding aquarium fish (flakes, granules, frozen foods). Be sure to serve herbal supplements in the form of pieces of vegetables and fruits (potatoes, zucchini, carrots, cucumbers, pears, apples, etc.), otherwise the shrimp may switch to ornamental plants.

In the design of the aquarium, places for shelters should be provided, it can be both dense thickets of plants and interior items – castles, sunken ships, driftwood, ceramic pots. As neighbors, large aggressive or predatory fish species should be avoided.

In a home aquarium, offspring are born every 4-6 weeks. When kept together with other varieties of shrimp, cross-breeding and degeneration with loss of the original color is possible.
