The striped bee shrimp (Caridina cf. cantonensis “Bee”) belongs to the Atyidae family. It is an artificially bred variety, not found in the wild. It has a modest size up to 3 cm, the color is black and white in a combination of stripes of both colors, located mainly in the abdomen.

Maintenance and care

It is acceptable to keep both in the general and in the hotel tank. In the first case, you should avoid combining with large, predatory or aggressive fish species. In the design, thickets of plants are welcome, the presence of shelters is vital during the molting of shrimps, when they are most defenseless. Hybrid forms are distinguished by unpretentiousness in comparison with their predecessor, the Striped bee is no exception. It is well adapted to wide ranges of pH and dGH, but shows the best growth and color results in soft, slightly acidic water.

Omnivorous, feed on all types of food for aquarium fish. It is highly recommended to include herbal supplements (pieces of homemade vegetables and fruits) in the diet to protect ornamental plants.
