Rotala Butterfly makes high demands on the content. The plant is very sensitive to light levels. It is necessary to provide bright intense light and avoid shading, often due to too close proximity of neighboring shoots. It is also necessary to provide soft acidic water, nutrient soil, it is desirable to use special aquarium soil, and additional introduction of carbon dioxide.

Given the need for light, the plant must be placed under lighting fixtures, as a rule, this is the central part of the composition. In a nutrient medium it grows quickly, regular pruning is required.
