Wet and dry dog food

What is the difference between wet dog food and dry dog food?

Wet foods can be hypoallergenic, balanced, easily digestible, but not complete. That is, it is impossible to constantly feed only wet food, it does not have enough vitamins and minerals, less fats, proteins and calories. The animal will not receive all the necessary substances. Mostly wet food is used as a supplement and as an addition to dry food, they can be mixed or rotated. For example, you can feed your dog wet food every morning, and the rest of the time he will eat dry food, just remember that the daily rate of dry food should be reduced so that your animal does not gain excess weight. Animal by-products may be present in wet food origin (liver, heart, lung, tripe), meat, cereals, vegetables, sometimes inulin, taurine, salt and sugar, prebiotics, etc. are added. Only in the super premium class, manufacturers write in full what their products consist of. If you want your pet to be tasty and healthy, then you should choose premium and super premium class canned food. Wet and canned food is varied in consistency: pieces or slices in sauce or jelly, pates, mousses, soups. Good canned food can be determined visually and by smell, the consistency will be dense, in the form of minced meat with the addition of the indicated ingredients (pieces of carrots, peas, rice), you must distinguish the components by eye. In canned food it is simpler, the consistency is more loose and homogeneous, and in very cheap canned food in a jar you will see pieces in sauce or jelly, and you won’t understand at all what they are made of. The most expensive canned food contains fillets: when you open a jar, you see a whole piece of meat.

Technology for the production of dry and wet dog food

The basis of the success of a pet food company is a unique recipe. Its development costs a lot of money and effort, and there are very few specialists in this field, which makes their work even more valuable. Each manufacturer is sure that it is his concept that is the most correct and successful. There are firms that have been producing food for decades, they are the most famous and everyone knows it, even the one who first got a puppy or kitten. Any new product is tested before being launched into mass production. The technology is approximately the same for all companies. Feed is produced using specialized equipment. The preparation process includes several stages: grinding raw materials, evaporating excess moisture, mixing the ingredients to a homogeneous mass, forming granules, drying and glazing. Each company brings its own nuances to production, which makes their recipe unique. If meat flour is used in production, then before mixing it is steamed to saturate it with liquid. And in the last stage, the granules are covered with fats, a vitamin complex, protective antioxidants, which allow the product to be stored for up to 18 months.
