Origin story

Thai bangku, as you can easily guess from the name, originated in Thailand. The homeland of this dog is considered the village of the same name in the north of the central part of the country. There is a legend that this breed appeared thanks to the third abbot of the Buddhist monastery on the Yom River, who sheltered the foremother of the Thai bangku. The puppies of this animal turned out to be both like a dog and a jackal. Later, they crossed with nomadic shepherd dogs, and this is how the first purebred Thai Bangkus appeared. That is, we can say that we owe the formation of this breed not to strict selection, but to nature itself. By the way, modern researchers have been able to prove that jackal chromosomes are indeed present in the DNA of Thai Bangkus, so the legend may not be far from the truth.

These amazing animals spread throughout Thailand only in the middle of the 20th century, and in order to preserve the uniqueness of the breed, a society for its protection was even created, because, despite all efforts to preserve the species, in 1983 the Thai bangku was endangered. Only thanks to the efforts of enthusiasts, a sufficient number of purebred dogs were found, which made it possible to revive the population.

Description

Many experts refer to Thai Bangkus as square because of their body proportions. The head with a broad forehead, black nose and dark brown eyes crowns a strong body with strong paws. The tail with long wool feathers is folded into a half ring. The fur coat of the Thai bangku itself is very thick and hard, with a pronounced soft undercoat, but not long.

The main color of this breed is white, with characteristic spots on the head and back. Monochromatic colors are not allowed, this indicates that the animal is not purebred.

Character

Distrust of strangers and a violent barking reaction to any attempt to encroach on a protected area are the hallmarks of the Thai Bangku. True, this dog is unlikely to dare to bite the violator of the border, only if there is a very serious threat to the animal itself or its owner.

These dogs are very reliable companions, which cannot be denied intelligence. The Thai bangku will become equally good companion both in children’s games and leisurely walks in the park. The curiosity and playfulness of a pet can always amuse his family. In the circle of domestic Thai bangku are very gentle and affectionate animals, appreciating home comfort and warm atmosphere.

Thai Bangkaew Dog Care

The Thai Bangku, like other Spitz, has a truly luxurious coat with a thick undercoat. Such a double fur coat will easily protect the dog from bad weather, but requires close attention. Bangka must be combed out at least every other day, and during periods of molting, even daily.

There is nothing specific about the hygiene required for ears , eyes and teeth . The only aspect: due to thick wool, you should be careful about any pollution after walking. Bathing the bangka is often not recommended, but wiping the belly and paws with a wet, soft cloth should be done as needed.

Conditions of detention

This breed is perfectly adapted to life even in our harsh climate, despite its much warmer homeland. Thai Bangku can be kept in an aviary on a fenced plot of a country house, but in no case on a chain. Since the dog is very attached to the owner, it would be preferable to settle the pet next to him. Moreover, due to its dimensions, the bangku will not take up much space even in a small apartment.

This breed needs long walks and good physical activity, in the absence of this, the furnishings of the owners, gnawed by a pet that has not found an outlet for its energy, can be severely damaged.

Prices

Finding this exotic breed outside of its homeland is almost impossible. It is believed that the Thai Bangku is one of the most expensive dogs in the world. In Thailand, she enjoys well-deserved popularity, but outside the country, the cost of a puppy, according to unconfirmed reports, can reach $ 10,000, and you will have to try very hard to find him.
