Signs that your dog loves you

Many dog owners at some point wonder how much their pet is attached to them. So how do you understand the feelings of the dog and understand that he loves you?

For several millennia spent side by side, man and dog have learned to understand each other perfectly. But if a person can talk about his feelings, then a dog can only show them with his behavior and with the help of body language.

How do dogs treat people?

The dog can instantly calculate the mood of the owner, understand that he is sad or that he is happy. How do dogs perceive people? Do they understand the person?

Some scientists believe that a dog treats its human like a child treats its parent. When a baby looks into his mother’s eyes, his brain receives a dose of oxytocin – the hormone of joy. The same thing happens to a dog’s brain when its owner looks into its eyes.

Signs of affection in dogs

During communication with a person, a dog uses all the senses – visual, tactile, olfactory. And she shows her affection too with the help of body language. It is the behavior of a pet that can show how he feels for a person. Signs that your dog loves you:

1. Long eye contact

Usually a direct look in dogs means a manifestation of aggression, which is why you should not look directly into the eyes of an unfamiliar dog. But if the pet looks into the eyes of the owner, without expressing any signs of hostility or irritation, then by this he shows his affection and even love.

2. Constant glances at the owner

It is worth paying attention to how often the dog turns around, for example, while walking. Also, the dog can follow the owner of the house with a tail, constantly checking what he is doing. If a pet constantly wants to know where his person is and what he is doing, he definitely loves him.

3. Deviation of the dog’s tail to the right when interacting with the owner

In many cases, if a pet’s tail deviates more to the right than to the left when he wags it, this indicates that he is in a happy state. If he wags his tail in this way when interacting with a person, it also indicates a strong affection. This is one of the many signals that dogs give with their tails.

4. The dog is very happy when the owner comes home

One of the most obvious signs of a dog’s love is that he can’t contain his emotions when the owner comes home from work or school.

5. The dog calms down faster next to the owner

If, frightened or overexcited, the dog tries to run to his person, this shows how comfortable she is with him.

6. Quick response to a call or command

Dogs can follow the commands of other people, but the speed of reaction can also indicate the degree of affection of the pet. If the dog runs faster to the owner’s call, and executes the command with more zeal, then the owner is definitely a significant figure for him.

7. The dog loves to sleep with the owner and touch his things.

A slightly irritating habit of carrying the owner’s things can indicate a strong love for the dog. A pet will always strive to sleep next to a loved one, or at least with things that store his smell.

If the dog does not feel affection for the owner, it is important to understand what is wrong in their relationship. Perhaps you should be gentler with your pet or give him more time and attention. You can also contact a veterinarian or an animal behavior expert. Maybe they can tell you what’s wrong.
