Roraima pinnate
Roraima pinnate, trade name Myriophyllum cf. aquaticum Roraima. It is one of the natural varieties of Brazilian Peristololium. This plant is native to wet rainforest swamps in northern Brazil. It was first discovered in the state of Roraima, which is reflected in its name. In 2010, it was presented as an aquarium plant at one of the international competitions of natural aquariums, held in Japan.
It has much in common with the Brazilian Peristololium, both in appearance and in terms of growth conditions. In a favorable environment, it develops a tall erect stem of a reddish hue. Leaf blades are heavily indented and resemble openwork feathers. Under water they are red or orange, in the air they become green with a shiny surface, as if covered with wax.
Grows fast. In aquariums without regular pruning, it soon grows beyond the surface of the water. Simple in content. Successfully adapts to various conditions. Although Roraima is native to the tropics, it can be found in cool water, so it can be used in open ponds during the summer. It does not need additional mineral supplements and the introduction of carbon dioxide.
Thanks to its hardiness and beautiful appearance, this plant has gained popularity among aquarists around the world, becoming an excellent alternative to other red species, which are usually more demanding in terms of growing conditions.
