Another theory says that at the beginning of the 20th century, French briards, these dogs were considered excellent shepherds. However, the peculiarities of the climate and terrain did not allow the animals to reach their potential, so the breeders crossed the Briard with local shepherd dogs – perhaps all with the same Pyrenean and Catalan breeds. And at the exit we got a Portuguese Shepherd.

Like hundreds of years ago, today the Portuguese Shepherd is a working breed. She has a lively character and exceptional intelligence. This is a pet devoted to the owner, who is happy to perform the work entrusted to him. Vigilant and attentive dogs are always on the alert. They do not trust strangers, behave with them cautiously and coldly. But animals do not show aggression – this quality is considered a breed defect.
