Physostegia purpurea
Physostegia purpurea, scientific name Physostegia purpurea. In nature, it grows in North America in the lowlands on wet substrates and partially submerged in water along the banks of reservoirs.
It can be used equally successfully in both paludariums and aquariums. In the latter case, it is advisable to place already grown sprouts under water so that they take root better. It is considered an unpretentious plant. For healthy growth, it is necessary to provide a high degree of light and nutrient soil, for example, planted in special aquarium soil. An additional introduction of carbon dioxide is welcome. It is worth noting that even under favorable conditions, the growth rate will be very low.
In aquariums, Physostegia purpurea forms a compact bush up to 25 cm high from green lanceolate leaves collected in a rosette. In the air, it grows up to a meter in height due to a long inflorescence in the form of a spikelet, covered with many purple flowers.
