Moss erect
Moss Erect, scientific name Vesicularia reticulata. In nature, it is widely distributed throughout Southeast Asia. It grows on wet substrates along the banks of rivers, swamps and other bodies of water, as well as under water, attaching itself to woody or rocky surfaces.
The Russian-language name is a transcription of the English trade name “Erect moss”, which can be translated as “Moss upright”. It reflects the tendency of this species to form straight shoots if the moss grows underwater. This feature has led to the popularity of Mha Erect in professional aquascaping. With the help of it, for example, they create realistic objects resembling trees, shrubs and other plants of the above-water flora.
It is a close relative of the Christmas moss. When grown in paludariums, both species look almost identical. Differences can only be detected at high magnification. Moss Erect has an ovoid or lanceolate leaf shape with a strongly pointed elongated tip.
Considered easy to maintain. Undemanding to growth conditions, able to adapt to a wide range of temperatures and basic water parameters (pH and GH). It is noted that under moderate lighting, moss forms more branched shoots, therefore, from the point of view of decoration, the amount of light matters.
Doesn’t grow well in soil. It is recommended to place on the surface of snags or stones. Initially, not yet overgrown bundles are fixed with a fishing line or special glue. In the future, moss rhizoids will independently hold the plant.
