Character

The Labradoodle is a relatively young breed. The first mention of a mestizo of a Labrador and a poodle dates back to 1955. Despite this, the dog became popular only after almost 30 years, in 1988. Australian guide dog breeder Wally Conron crossed a Labrador Retriever and a Poodle. He hoped to breed a hypoallergenic dog. But, alas, the experiment failed. But the resulting puppy had outstanding learning abilities. Representatives of the breed serve in the police, work as doctors and, of course, guides.

Interestingly, the character of a dog largely depends on its parents. Today there are no specific rules for crossbreeding. Many breeders still choose to use the Labrador and Poodle in their breeding. In this case, the result can be unpredictable: some dogs will be more like a poodle, a quiet intellectual, others like a labrador, a noisy good man.

Be that as it may, the Labradoodle is sure to become a favorite companion for a family with small children. These dogs make excellent nannies: an affectionate and gentle dog is ready to spend around the clock with the kids. And adults can be calm: he will endure any trick of the little master.

Behaviour

Labradoodle needs the company of a family; without proper attention, the dog begins to feel sad and yearn. Therefore, such a pet is unlikely to suit a lonely and busy person.

Representatives of the breed are extremely curious. This is manifested literally in everything, but especially in education . Dogs learn new commands with interest, it is a pleasure to train them, even a beginner can handle it.

If you are planning to get a Labradoodle, but you already have animals in the house, you should not worry: dogs have a calm disposition and are good with other animals, even cats.

Labradoodle Care

Grooming for a Labradoodle depends on its coat type. Animals with curly hair are combed often – almost daily. Pets whose coat is closer to that of a Labrador can be combed less often – a couple of times a week will be enough. During molting – in autumn and spring – this procedure should be carried out almost every day.

It is important to monitor the health of the ears, eyes and teeth of the dog. They need to be inspected weekly and cleaned on time. To keep your pet’s teeth healthy, periodically offer him hard chew treats .

Conditions of detention

Labradoodle can live in a city apartment, subject to long frequent walks. The dog should be walked 2-3 times a day. Representatives of the breed are quite active, so you can run and ride a bike with them. In addition, it is recommended to take your pet to a park or forest a couple of times a week so that he can warm up in the fresh air.
