For a cat, the place where she lives is security base. So, our task is to make the cat’s habitat comfortable and attractive, otherwise the cat will feel and behave restlessly and show behavioral problems. How to create a cozy place for a cat?

Today it is not a problem to buy a huge variety of items that will make your cat’s habitat safe and cozy. When choosing them, remember that the cat needs personal space and the opportunity to take a break from communicating with other inhabitants of the house, even if it seems to you that the pet is ready to communicate around the clock. If you impose your company on a cat, it becomes irritable and shy, it can bite and scratch in order to win freedom – and it will be right. So the cat should be able to retire.

What can you offer a cat as a shelter? Possible options:

• Basket with a soft, pleasant to the touch bedding.
• Pillow on the windowsill (wide enough).
• Special platform on the “cat tree”.
• House.
• Cardboard box.

If you have several cats sharing a small space, a “cat tree” may be the best choice, which allows you to arrange platforms at different levels and provide each cat with an individual place.

As a rule, “cat trees” have soft and fabric-covered places to rest: tunnels, baskets, domes, semicircles and other shelter options. At the same time, there are platforms where you need to jump (and this is an additional physical activity), and there are those where you need to climb through the entrance at the base of the tree.

A place for a cat is usually also equipped with a scratching post, hanging toys, a variety of ladders and even stylized birdhouses.

However, some cats choose their own places for relaxation and solitude – and sometimes those that the owner would not have thought of. In this case, you should make sure that this place is safe for the purr, for example, the cat will not get stuck there, and the surface will support its weight.
