Echinodorus tricolor
Echinodorus tricolor or Echinodorus tricolor, commercial (trade) name Echinodorus “Tricolor”. Bred artificially in one of the nurseries in the Czech Republic, does not occur in the wild. Available for sale since 2004.
The plant forms a compact bush about 15-20 cm in height. Leaves are elongated wide ribbon-like leaves grow up to 15 cm, have a relatively short petiole, collected in a rosette, turning into a massive rhizome. The edge of the leaf blade is wavy. As the name implies, the peculiarity of Echinodorus tricolor is in color. Young leaves are initially pale reddish with brown flecks, but after a short time a golden hue that fades to dark green on older leaves.
Hardy hardy plant. For normal growth, it is enough to provide soft nutrient soil, warm water and a moderate or high degree of illumination. It adapts perfectly to a wide range of hydrochemical parameters, which allows it to be planted in most freshwater aquariums. It will be a good choice even for beginners in the aquarium hobby.
