Creative hacks to make life easier for dog owners

You are looking for ways to make your life easier, and when someone comes up with new hacks, you are happy to try it. But lately, you have been completely sucked into your usual way of life. It’s time to look for new tips and tricks that will not only make your life easier, but also, perhaps, make communication with your pet even more fun. Below are seven recommendations that dog owners should try out today.

1. Is your dog eating too fast?

Dogs often swallow the portion of food offered to them at lightning speed. This can lead to digestive problems or create a risk of suffocation. If your dog sucks food at the speed of a vacuum cleaner, try placing a tennis ball or other larger object (depending on your pet’s size) in the middle of his food bowl. To be able to eat all the food, he will have to move the ball around the bowl with his nose. This will slow down the rate of absorption of food, which will contribute to its more proper absorption. But don’t forget – you may be the owner of a genius dog who will quickly learn that you can simply remove the ball from the bowl and continue eating at your usual pace. In this case, you still have to invest in new pet feeding accessories, such as a puzzle bowl.

2. Get rid of dog hair.

Does your dog shed so much that you might think you have three or four pets at home? And while combing your pet with a furminator can help remove excess hair, you most likely won’t be able to completely deal with the effects of shedding. In addition to regular sweeping and vacuuming, consider the following simple options. Remember when you were a kid rubbing a balloon on your head to make your hair stand on end and reach for it? Well, rubber gloves can similarly statically attract your dog’s coat. Simply wet your gloves and rub them against carpet or furniture and watch the dog hair start to stick to them like magic. In this case, you do not even have to touch the hairs! Another useful tip is to get a window mop: it will not only wash your windows to a shine, but also help you easily get rid of fallen dog hair.

3. Ease your dog’s anxiety when you’re not at home.

Dogs have an amazing sense of smell, so it’s no surprise that their bond with you is based on your natural scent. If your pet gets anxious when you’re out of the house for long periods of time, help her deal with the discomfort by making your own doggy pillow out of your own old hoodie. Before leaving your dog at home alone, wear an old sweatshirt around the house for a few days to soak in your scent. Then insert a pillow into it, tuck the sleeves inward and sew up all the holes. You can also sew Velcro on the bottom of the sweatshirt so that the pillow can be removed and washed. Giving your puppy something to remind him of you will help ease his anxiety while you’re away.

4. Facilitate the process of walking.

Do you want to know what you need to do to make your walks with your dog smoother? You need to find a way to get her to walk beside you instead of dragging you along. Training your dog to be good on walks is important, but if he’s stubbornly fighting the leash, there’s another option. Attach the leash to the front of the harness. In this case, if the pet starts to pull on the leash, it will be turned 180 degrees. After she has to turn around in the opposite direction several times, she will take a hint that such “leadership skills” are unacceptable on walks.

5. Reuse old soft toys or make your own.

Everyone knows that a dog can chew on his favorite soft toy in minutes, which can cost you a pretty penny if you keep buying new ones. The good news is that there is an easier and cheaper option – old used stuffed toys. The main thing is to choose toys that do not have any small removable parts that the animal can choke on, such as buttons or plastic eyes. Another great option is to simply use the things you have at home. Old socks stuffed with cotton or a used plastic bottle make great toys for pets. She doesn’t care what this toy looks like – she will be happy with any object with which you can play drag and drop together.

6. We keep the dog in a certain room.

Often owners want to keep their dog out of a room that doesn’t have a door, but they don’t want to spend money on expensive fences for kids or pets. No problem! A couple of curtain tension rods and a piece of fabric will do the job just fine. Simply slide the tension rods into the door frame and hang fabric from them. Make sure the top bar is high enough so the dog can’t jump over it, and the bottom bar low enough so he can’t crawl under it. Most pets will not dare to test the fragility of this barrier, preventing them from being in a room they shouldn’t be in. It’s also a great way to keep your dog out of the kitchen when you’re cooking. However, you should check if this design works while you are around, because some tailed tricksters still manage to discover that the fabric is not a wall at all.

7. We remove scratches from dog claws from furniture.

This tip may sound old as hell to you, but it really works. Did you know that walnuts, pecans, and brazil nuts contain natural oils that help restore wood furniture from scratch? Just take the nut kernel out of the shell and rub diagonally across the scratch so the natural oils can be absorbed. Then rub your finger over the area where the scratch was to warm it up and help activate the oils. Wait a few minutes and then wipe the treated area with a soft cloth to remove excess oil.

This list of dog owner tips to make life a little easier for both is not exhaustive. There are many other options that will diversify your life. Be open to new things and constantly look for interesting ideas. At the dog park, when you’re standing in awkward silence next to other pet owners, strike up a conversation. Ask them what they do to solve pet problems or keep them entertained.
