Cat Grooming

Why cut a cat?

Cats living in natural conditions are usually short-haired. When their hair begins to shed, most of it remains on the bushes and trees on which the animals climb. But pets, although they try to wash themselves, as a rule, cannot cope with their hair on their own. When they lick, they swallow quite a lot of hair and fluff, often this leads to problems with the digestive system. In addition, uncombed hair falls off, tangles are formed, due to which the skin is irritated and inflamed.

In addition, in the hot season, cats with long hair may feel uncomfortable. If your pet has such problems, then grooming will help to solve them.

Features of haircuts

You can try to trim the cat yourself, but it is better to trust an experienced groomer. The specialist will find an approach to the animal with any character. He will trim the cat, giving her a minimum of discomfort. True, at first she will be wary of the specialist, but when the groomer takes her in hand, she will not resist combing the hair and cutting it.

Some owners, desperate to cut the cat, ask to have the procedure under anesthesia. But this should not be done, since such medications are very harmful to the health of the pet. It will be better if you find a good master. Remember that a real specialist must have a veterinary education.

Types of haircuts

Groomers offer a variety of types of haircuts, up to creating patterns on the sides. Many owners prefer a “lion” haircut for cats: they cut the hair short on the whole body, and leave it on the head and paws up to the carpal joints of normal length, and leave a brush on the tail. After machine cutting, the mane is carefully trimmed with scissors.

Another popular type of haircut is “summer”. Here they do not leave the mane and cut out a shorter tassel on the tail.

The cat is sheared with a machine that has a special nozzle. Thus, hair remains 2-3 mm long, less often – 5-9 mm.

A haircut with scissors alone is more expensive.

It is important to remember that a cat is sheared not only for beauty, but also to make her feel more comfortable.
