Can a dog recognize his owner’s voice on the phone?

Many owners, leaving home for a long time, often do not mind talking to their pets on the phone. And they ask the household to “give the dog the phone.” But does the dog recognize the owner’s voice on the phone?

Can a dog recognize his owners voice on the phone?

There is no single answer to this question. It would seem that they should. After all, dogs are very susceptible to sounds and can distinguish the voice of a loved one among many others. But if you ask someone close to “get the dog on the phone” and then ask him to describe his reaction, he may disappoint you.

Most dogs show some interest when they hear the human voice on the phone when held up to the dog’s ear. However, very few of them are happy about it. Perhaps this is due to the fact that the phone distorts the voice. And dogs just don’t perceive it as belonging to the owner. And they react with curiosity only to strange sounds. And when they show emotions, it is rather surprise and excitement.

So there is no reason to be disappointed.

How do dogs recognize their owners?

First of all, the smell. Moreover, it can easily distinguish, for example, twins.

Dogs also rely on sight. Moreover, they can recognize the owner even in photographs, although for a long time it was believed that these animals do not recognize flat images.

And they also recognize by voice – but, apparently, not by phone.
