Bolbitis Difformis

Bolbitis heteroclita “Difformis” is also known under the names mini bolbitis and Bolbitis dwarf, scientific name Bolbitis heteroclita “difformis”. Widely distributed throughout Southeast Asia. The first samples of this fern for scientific description were collected on the Philippine island of Negros in 1952. Initially, it was isolated as an independent species, Edanyoa difformis, but later it was found that it is a variety of Bolbitis bizarre.

Long mini bolbitis used in paludariums on moist soil, where it formed a creeping rhizome and sprouts about 7 cm high, forming a continuous dark green “carpet”. Relatively recently (since 2009) it has been widely used in aquariums in professional aquascaping. It turned out that he feels great under water, although growth becomes slower. Capable of anchoring both on the ground and on any surface, such as driftwood or rough stone. It is unpretentious, perfectly adapts to different levels of illumination and temperature conditions, is not demanding on the hydrochemical composition of water.

When Bolbitis dwarf, growing in the air, is placed under water, its gradual adaptation to other conditions begins. Shoots thin out, become brittle. It will take several weeks to form a dense bush.
