The plant has been known for many years. However, in the hobby aquarium it is not in great demand due to the need for delicate handling – fragile leaves are easily damaged during transportation, maintenance of the aquarium, or can be broken by large fish.

Refers to rosette plants, in which the leaves grow from a single center, and the stem as such is absent. The leaves are long and narrow ribbon-shaped, light green in color. In some varieties, in bright light, the tips turn red.

In nature, it is an annual plant, propagated by seeds. In an artificial environment and favorable conditions, it grows for several years and grows to an impressive size, so it is recommended to plant in tanks with a volume of at least 150 liters. In order for Blixa Ober to hold securely in the ground, it is advisable to use a sand and gravel substrate. Comfortable conditions are achieved in a fairly wide range of temperatures and hydrochemical values.
