Baldellia

Baldellia, scientific name Baldellia ranunculoides. It grows throughout Europe, especially in Western, as well as in North Africa and Asia. It grows in shallow water mainly in stagnant reservoirs (lakes, ponds, reservoirs) or along river banks. Mentioned as an aquarium plant in older literature. However, it is now quite rare in home aquaria.

There are three groups of Baldellia, depending on the author, the term “species” or “subspecies” may be used: Buttercup Baldellia, Creeping Baldellia and Mountain Baldellia. Submerged plant forms stiff, thin thread-like leaves. bright green colors growing from a single center – rosettes. In the surface position, the leaves are the same long, but noticeably wider, spear-shaped. Not infrequently, a long branched arrow with white flowers forms from the base.

A completely unpretentious plant capable of growing under various conditions (except for high temperatures), including open water, without any special care. It has no particular value in aquariums and paludariums, therefore it is not for sale.
