Aponogeton skinfolia

Aponogeton skin-leaved, scientific name Aponogeton longiplumulosus. endemic northwestern extremity of the island of Madagascar. Grows in moderately flowing rivers and rocky substrates. Introduced to Europe in 1970 by the German naturalist Josef Bogner. Since 1983 it has been commercially available as an aquarium plant.

It grows up to 60 cm, so it is used in large aquariums. Aponogeton leathery leaves forms a massive tuber from which leaves and roots grow. If the plant floats on the surface, the tuber does not form. The leaves are long green ribbon-shaped, the edges are wavy. The leaf itself is bent. The content is quite simple. The plant prefers diffused light of medium intensity, soft slightly acidic water. Fertilization is not necessary in a mature aquarium ecosystem.
