Having a pet is always exciting. Many studies show that older people who have a pet feel better. It turned out that communication with the horse can also be beneficial.

The experiment was conducted in Northern Virginia, Western North Carolina and North Florida. Researchers have been following women who have owned horses for decades to find out how interacting with a horse affects the owner’s health. 

It turned out that the owners of these animals lived 15 years longer than women who did not have horses. Horses are good for your health.

The results were amazing. The researchers used a double-blind method in which the women were divided into two groups. Experimenters have been watching for 40 years how communication with horses affects the health of women. By the end of the research, amazing facts were discovered. Women who owned horses lived 15 years longer. Moreover, the effect did not depend on age and nationality. The experimenters even got data from 50 countries to make sure their results were accurate. It turns out that owning a horse can be extremely beneficial to your health.

Some women have only owned horses for a few years, and the researchers decided to clarify what exactly counts as “owning a horse.” A woman was considered the owner of a horse only if she had the horse for more than 5 years. In Spain, women lived 16,5% longer if they had a horse. For American women, the difference in life expectancy was about 14,7%.

Why did this happen?

While scientists knew that owning a horse was good for health, they weren’t sure why. We hope that doctors, psychologists and biologists will continue their research to find out why this is happening.
