With a cat to the country!

We’ve been waiting for summer for a long time, and now it’s here! Summer season is in full swing. The warm sun and revived nature attract not only us, but also our cats: they are happy to inhale the air from the window and dream of taking a walk on the green grass. Do you want to take a cat with you to the country? If she is used to transport and is not afraid of the street, this is a great idea! But so that the rest is not overshadowed by troubles, you need to prepare in advance for the trip. In our article, we will tell you what measures you need to take to keep your pet safe and what things to take with you.

  • We vaccinate

Is it time to re-vaccinate your pet? Open the veterinary passport and check that the previous vaccination has not expired. Only vaccinated animals can be taken to nature. This is to protect both their health and yours.

  • We process a cat from parasites

In nature, a cat has every chance to meet ticks and fleas. To prevent infection, the cat must be pre-treated from external parasites. Not on the day of the trip, but 2-3 days before it (depending on the characteristics of the chosen drug), so that the remedy has time to act. Carefully read the description of the drug and strictly follow the instructions for use.

  • Carrying

Even if the cottage is very close and you are transporting the cat in your own car, it still needs to be in a special carrier for transportation. Not on your hands, not in a backpack and not in a tight fabric carrier, but in a full-fledged spacious shelter with good ventilation. Don’t forget to put a diaper on the bottom!

  • Food and two bowls

It is rare that someone goes to the country without a barbecue kit. But cat food is forgotten by many! The diet of a pet in nature should be the same as at home. Be sure to bring your cat’s usual food and two bowls (one for food and one for water).

  • Tray and filler

Don’t expect your house cat to ask to go outside to go to the bathroom as scheduled. If she is used to the tray, then she will also need it in the country!

  • harness

Even if you have a very calm cat who has never shown an urge to run away, you cannot know how she will behave in nature. Perhaps instincts will take precedence over manners, and the cat will try to escape or climb a tree, from which it will then be difficult for her to get down. Therefore, for safety, it is recommended to take the cat outside only on a reliable harness.

  • Collar with address tag

For reinsurance, put a collar with an address book on the cat. If the pet does run away, this will make it easier for her to return home.

  • Voliary

Of course, not everyone likes to walk a cat on a harness. And the pet does not feel freedom. But there is a great alternative – a special aviary. It can be very spacious, and the cat can enjoy walking in a safe, limited area.

  • Clearing the territory

Before you let your cat walk around the area, carefully inspect it for safety. There should be no glasses, sharp sticks and other objects potentially dangerous for the animal on the ground.

  • Lounger

After exciting walks, the cat will sleep like a baby. And to make the dream especially sweet, take her favorite couch with you!

  • Medicine chest

We close our list with a first-aid kit! If you are traveling with a pet, it should always be with you. The first aid kit should be equipped with everything necessary to provide first aid to the cat (bandages, wipes, disinfectants without alcohol, wound healing ointments), as well as sorbents, a thermometer, a sedative (recommended by a veterinarian), contacts of the nearest veterinary clinics and a specialist with whom you are in contact. in which case you can contact at any time, etc. It is best to discuss the complete set of a first-aid kit specifically for your pet with a veterinarian in advance.

What would you add to this list? Tell me, do your cats like to go to the country?
