Where to find a puppy

Regardless of which breed you choose, there are many opportunities to find your pet. Ads in local newspapers, animal shelters and charities, friends, family, breeders of purebred dogs – that’s where you can look for a pet. But in case you want a purebred dog, it is better to choose breeders or special publications dealing with this breed. Breeders: You should definitely look at mom and all her litter. Also, if possible, it is better to look at the father of the puppies. During the first visit, do not rush, ask all your questions; you can even take notes. If certain tests are required for your breed, ask the breeder for the results. Find out what the puppies in the litter were fed, when was the last time they were dewormed, and if they were taken to veterinary appointments. Pay attention to the nature of the mother and do not rush to choose the most nervous puppy in the litter – this can be a sign of poor socialization. Also, do not seek out of pity to choose the smallest and weakest puppy. Find out how and where the puppies grew up – this will help predict what they will be like in the future. For example, if you are taken to look at puppies in a barn far from home, be careful, as puppies may not have much experience with people. The first 16 weeks of their life are very important for the formation of the correct behavior and socialization. Puppies not used to the sights, smells and sounds of everyday life can have serious problems in the future.

Would you like to take a mestizo? If you’re looking to get a mixed breed puppy, your best bet is to start looking at local animal shelters, rescue centers, and charities. But any decent shelter will want to make sure their ward goes to good hands, so be prepared for the staff to want to inspect your home.
