What are cat toys?

Toys are an essential part of a happy life for a cat. And the more of them, the better. But going to the pet store for a new thing, you can get confused. The range is simply huge, which toy to choose? We will help you!

Toys for cats are primarily divided into two groups: for joint games of the owner and pet and for independent ones, with which the pet will play by itself. Each group has its own advantages, and one should not exclude the other: they need to be combined. For example, toys for joint games form the relationship between the owner and the cat, strengthen their friendship, and improve mutual understanding. And toys for independent games allow you to keep your pet busy while the owner is busy or absent.

For any cat, no matter how independent it may be, attention is important. Playing with the owner, she is truly happy.

  • teasers (for example, a flexible teaser with a toy from KONG, various fishing rods, ribbons, feathers, etc.),

  • clockwork toys (for example, “Clockwork Mouse” Petstages),

  • battery-powered tracks (for example, the KONG Glide’n Seek toy, in the body of which fluffy tails move),

  • balls (rubber or plastic that bounce off the floor perfectly),

  • various textile toys (mice, fish, boomerangs) that can be thrown up and which, of course, need to be taken out from under the sofa in time.

Toys for independent games are not only an interesting leisure activity, but also a real salvation in education, and an effective way to deal with stress. Not every cat can boast that the owner spends with her 24 hours a day. When we go to work or other business, our pets are left completely alone. They are nervous, longing, or, left to their own devices, simply bored. But the cat will not be bored for long. She will definitely find something to do with herself. And if there are no toys in your house that will attract her attention, she will take up the damage to wallpaper, furniture or other things. Familiar situation?

In order to protect the atmosphere of the apartment and prevent the pet from getting bored, models for independent games were invented. The cat enjoys playing with them when he is alone at home or when the owner is busy. And they also allow you to take a pet at night, because when the whole family falls asleep, the cat’s hunting instincts only wake up! Keep in mind that all felines are nocturnal, and if they are not provided with options for midnight activities, you will definitely not be able to get enough sleep.

  • famous one-story or multi-story tracks that several cats can play at once (for example, Petstages tracks for cats are a permanent bestseller),

  • toys with catnip (the cat will definitely not be indifferent to Kong “Kicker”),

  • rope spools (Orca spool),

  • scratching posts (there are different types: floor, wall, “columns” and multi-level: with houses and shelves) – a real salvation for furniture and wallpaper,

  • electronic toys with motion sensors.

The cat should have several toys: for joint and independent games. So that interest in them does not disappear, they need to be alternated.

So, you have decided on what type of toy you want to purchase. What else to pay attention to?

  • Check for correctness. If the toy is mechanical or electronic, be sure to check if it works before buying.

  • Check the integrity of the toy and packaging. Toys must be intact, with an even color, without scratches or damage. All parts, if any, must be tightly held.

  • Appointment. Use toys strictly for their intended purpose. For example, children’s toys should not be given to a cat, because. their filler or material can harm it. Dog toys are not suitable due to hardness, size and other characteristics. Rodent toys will be too small.

Choose toys designed specifically for cats. They are safe and designed specifically for your pet’s needs.

What are cat toys?

Everything else is individual nuances. For example, some cats love catnip models, while others do not react to them at all. Some like to catch up, others like to jump, and still others prefer to chew toys while lying on their side. Prophylactic (dental) models are very popular, which not only entertain the cat, but also maintain the health of her teeth and freshen her breath. Much depends on the individual preferences of cats, but they can only be recognized by trial.

The path to the perfect toys is always exciting. May your cat have more of these!
