water eyes

Water eyes (Bubble Eye Goldfish – English) is the most unusual among all Goldfish. Has two bubbles under the eyes filled with water. They begin to appear at the age of 6-9 months, and by the age of two they become fully formed. Such a “decoration” is extremely fragile, the bags break easily. Although they tend to regenerate, the new bubble may differ in size and shape. In addition, the healing process is slow and fraught with complications in the form of infections.

The fish has a round/ovoid body shape with a forked caudal fin. The structure of the body, along with two bladders, does not contribute to swimming, which makes the fish seem rather slow and clumsy. Water eyes are available in different colors: red, chocolate, black, classic yellow (gold), etc.

The fish does not belong to the category of simple ones and is not recommended for beginner aquarists. In the design, only rounded, if possible, soft objects without sharp or protruding edges should be used. It is advisable to keep in a species aquarium, otherwise other fish may accidentally damage the bladder.
