Wakin’

Wakin is one of the first artificially bred varieties of Goldfish. It was bred in China between the 1502nd and XNUMXth century AD and remained unchanged for hundreds of years. Active selection began from the moment of its appearance in Japan in XNUMX. As a result, many new species known today have arisen. Thus, Wakin can be considered the progenitor of all other varieties of Goldfish.

The main features of this species, in addition to the forked tail, is the body pattern, consisting of large irregularly shaped yellow or red-orange spots. The most valued fish with a snow-white body and a bright red pattern. Although much more common are samples with a metallic tint instead of white.

Vakin is closest to carps and crucians, therefore it is distinguished by endurance and unpretentiousness in keeping. Despite their belonging to decorative species, these fish are able to live not only in an aquarium, but also in open ponds during the summer season. They grow quickly and reach their maximum size (about 20 cm) by the age of three. Differ in high life expectancy. For example, the record holder is the Goldie fish, which has lived for more than 45 years with one of the breeders in England.
