Veiltail
Veiltail Goldfish is one of the most beautiful varieties, but at the same time the most difficult to keep and breed. It is quite rare, mainly in professional aquariums. The main feature is very long and thin fins, like a veil, which reach impressive sizes.
The closest relatives include Nymph, Oranda, Zhemchuzhina and others, they inherited a short dense body of a rounded shape and a rich color palette: red-orange, mother-of-pearl, white, spotted and other colors and shades. The fins are large and long, for example, the dorsal fin grows up to 6 cm. The tail and anal fin have a distinct bifurcation.
This structure causes the presence of several generic diseases, these include problems with the swim bladder and susceptibility to injury and subsequent infection. In the first case, the selectively bred body shape affected the internal organs and led to a modification of the swim bladder, which now does not cope with its functions. Long and thin fins are easily injured, so if the water quality is out of range or the fish’s immunity is weakened, infection with a fungal or bacterial infection will inevitably occur.
It is better to watch this fish from the side than to buy it in a home aquarium and expose it to potential dangers.
