Three-lobed duckweed
Three-lobed duckweed, scientific name Lemna trisulca. It is found everywhere throughout the Northern Hemisphere, mainly in the temperate and subtropical climatic zones. It grows in stagnant water bodies (lakes, swamps, ponds) and along river banks in areas with a slow current. Usually found under the surface of the “blanket” of other types of duckweed. In nature, with the onset of winter, they sink to the bottom, where they continue to grow.
Outwardly, it differs significantly from other related species. Unlike the well-known duckweed (Lemna minor), it forms light green translucent shoots in the form of three small plates up to 1.5 cm in length. Each such plate has a transparent front jagged edge.
Considering the wide natural habitat, duckweed three-lobed can be attributed to the number of unpretentious plants. In a home aquarium, growing it will not cause any difficulties. Perfectly adapts to a very wide range of temperatures, hydrochemical composition of water and light levels. It does not need additional feeding, however, it is noted that the best growth rates are achieved in soft water with a low concentration of phosphates.
