The name comes from the Latin word elegans, which means “beautiful, elegant, beautiful.” The fish is native to South America. Maintenance and care

It is one of the popular types of Corydoras catfish, often found on sale. This species has been living in the artificial environment of aquariums for many generations and during this time has adapted to life in conditions that differ from those in which its wild relatives are found.

Corydoras elegant is quite easy to maintain, adapts perfectly to a wide range of acceptable pH and dGH values. Having a filtration system and regular maintenance of the aquarium (replacing part of the water, removing waste) will keep the water quality at a high level.

The design uses a sandy or finely gravel substrate, natural or artificial snags, thickets of plants and other decorative elements that can serve as shelters.

Food. An omnivorous species, it gladly accepts dry, freeze-dried foods popular in the aquarium trade, as well as live and frozen foods, such as brine shrimp, daphnia, bloodworms, etc.

behavior and compatibility. Unlike most relatives, it prefers to stay in the water column, and not in the bottom layer. Peaceful friendly fish. It is desirable to maintain a group size of at least 4-6 individuals. Compatible with other Corydoras and non-aggressive species of comparable size.
