The child wants a rat

Sometimes parents, succumbing to the persuasions of the child, have a rat as a pet. Is it worth it?

The rat in this sense is no different from other animals. Sometimes people get a pet and say it’s for kids. However, it is necessary that at the same time parents are passionate about animals and participate in the process of caring for them. It doesn’t matter who you get: a hamster, a rat or a dog.

If the parents themselves do not like animals, but only want the child to have more fun, then the animals most often suffer.

In our club, many have small children who communicate with rats. However, this must be done under the supervision of parents.

Firstly, a child can injure a rat: break a paw, break a tail, or simply unsuccessfully pick it up and squeeze it too hard.

Secondly, there is a possibility that when the child hurts the rat, it will bite him in return.

Unfortunately, rats are often abandoned. The man remembers having a rat as a child and decides to please his child. And the child does not know how to properly handle the animal, and the rat becomes aggressive. Or children just play enough and lose interest in the pet.

Therefore, in no case do I advise a child to buy an animal as a toy, whether it be a rat, a parrot or a worm.

If you want to give a child a rat, think again whether you are ready to take responsibility for it yourself, including spending a lot of money on treatment and creating all the necessary conditions.
