The basics of raising a cat

You can’t shout at a pet or beat him, but you need to show firmness and perseverance. You should not change the established rules, but you should not forget about love and affection. The cat is an emotional animal, but with a short memory, so any punishment must be followed immediately, otherwise it will be ineffective, and it is best to try to prevent misconduct.

The cat is capricious and chooses its own owner, that is, the family member who will feed it, wash it, cut its claws, treat and care for it. Active pets prefer, as a rule, men, and affectionate and calm – women. In addition to the owner, the cat chooses for itself and a beloved family member with whom it will sleep, play and caress.

To become an authority for a pet, you must follow a number of rules:

• Do not change the rules established in the house and do not allow to do what was once forbidden;

• Do not succumb to provocations and demands from the cat. Even out of pity;

• Do not beat or humiliate her;

• React to the misdeeds of the animal instantly, otherwise the cat simply will not understand why she is being punished.

Wayward and emotional

It is believed that the cat walks by itself and is not emotionally attached to the owner. Actually it is not. She reacts sharply to any changes: parting with family members, the appearance of another animal or a small child in the house, moving to a new apartment, replacing her favorite furniture. Therefore, during a period of change, it is important to be not just next to the cat, but also surround it with affection and care so that it understands that everything is in order and nothing threatens its usual way of life.

Own territory

A cat needs a sense of security. For some pets, it is enough to jump on a closet or on a window sill and watch what is happening in the house half-asleep. For others, it is important to have a real shelter where you can hide from everyone – the cat will consider it its territory.

For example, a special cat house is suitable as such a shelter – you can buy it at a pet store or make it yourself.

If several cats live in the house, they can buy a large house or a special complex with several levels so that they can share it among themselves. Thus, it will be possible to avoid conflicts between pets that will divide the territory.

Voice and perseverance

The cat responds well to intonation. If you usually talk to her quietly and kindly, then a sharp “No!” or “No!” will be quite enough for the animal to stop its antics. No need to shout at the pet or wave your hands in front of him, but you should show perseverance and steadfastness, weaning him from bad habits. And there is no point in being offended by a cat for a long time: all because of the same short-term memory, she simply will not understand what she deserves to be offended by.
