Teething Kitten Toys

At the age of 3 to 5 months, kittens begin to change their teeth. And this means that for a while, purring babies turn into puppies, whose favorite pastime is to gnaw everything that comes in their way.

Teething is not the most pleasant process, because it is accompanied by pain and discomfort. Trying to get rid of the unusual itching and pain in the gums, the kitten begins to chew on objects that are more or less attractive to him. Most often, such items are furniture, wooden items, wicker baskets or kitchen utensils, leather shoes, children’s toys, as well as the hands of the owners, which for most kittens are the absolute leaders on our list.

However, it is by no means possible to punish a baby for spoiled things or an attack on the owner’s hand during the period of changing teeth. The desire to gnaw is a natural reaction to teething, and no amount of punishment will help the cause here. On the contrary, you will only make the kitten worry even more, which is already having a hard time because of the pain in the gums. Some pets endure this period so hard that they even refuse to eat and meow loudly, as if complaining to the owner about their misfortune. Often there are changes in the behavior of the baby. He can become aggressive and restless, or, on the contrary, very lethargic. Much here depends on the individual characteristics of the pet, and if one kitten is experiencing a hard change of teeth, then the second one may practically not feel it.

To help your kitten cope with a crucial period, direct his chewing talents in the right direction and protect things and your own hands from small but very sharp teeth, give him special toys. Which, by the way, will solve not one, but several problems at once.

Firstly, toys are a reliable and proven way to keep your pet busy (and relax). The kittens are very active, they are ready to play for days on end, but the owners, of course, do not have the opportunity to entertain the pet around the clock. And then toys come to the rescue, the range of which in pet stores is very wide. You can easily choose models for joint games of the owner and pet, as well as toys with which the kitten can play on its own while you are at work, doing your own business or relaxing.

Secondly, toys and active games contribute to the harmonious physical and mental development of the kitten. While playing, the kitten moves, warms up and throws out the accumulated energy, and puzzle toys make him find solutions in non-standard situations and develop ingenuity.

Thirdly, special toys for kittens made of synthetic rubber are a real salvation during the period of teeth change. Kittens gnaw on such toys with pleasure and passion: the soft enough material is pleasant for the teeth and safe for the oral cavity. Thanks to the exciting activity, the kitten forgets about the discomfort in the gums and enjoys the game carelessly, as it should be for babies.

Fourthly, many high-quality toys for cats are the prevention of diseases of the oral cavity, because. in the process of chewing, soft plaque is removed. And fifthly, some of them are saturated with sweet mint, which provides fresh breath, which, you see, is a nice addition.

It is impossible not to mention the famous catnip – the favorite delicacy of most cats, to which they react extremely actively. Catnip is often used in the manufacture of toys. Pets not only bite and lick such toys with rapture, but also fawn over them, carelessly rolling on the floor, as if forgetting about everything around. However, when purchasing such a toy for a kitten, it should be borne in mind that kittens under the age of 2,5 months, as a rule, do not react to catnip. In addition, approximately 20% of cats are also completely indifferent to this delicacy. Very soon, by trial and error, you will know exactly which toys will please your pet, and which ones will hardly get his attention.

Do not forget that toys and active games are an integral part of good health and a happy life for pets, which are so easy to please!
