Teaching your puppy social skills and obedience training
Even if your puppy is doing well at home schooling, you should still sign him up for socialization classes.
These classes usually recruit puppies between the ages of 8–10 weeks and 5 months. One of the most significant benefits of a well organized class is that it provides your pet with the opportunity to interact with other puppies and people and is able to teach him good behavior.
Find a trainer who can be firm without punishment and relies mostly on positive motivation. Flat collars are generally much better for training than stiff collars. Avoid any technique that causes pain or significant discomfort to the animal. Painful techniques can cause fear, aggressive behavior, unwillingness to learn, and break the special bond you build with your puppy.
Ask your veterinarian about dog training courses available in your area, as well as age and vaccination requirements for pets.
Further training
Young dogs tend to forget the rules quickly and often push the limits. For this reason, it’s a good idea to re-enroll your pet in adolescence, between 7 and 14 months of age.
