Samolus Valeranda
Samolus Valeranda, scientific name Samolus valerandi. It is found throughout Europe, including in the temperate climate zone, Asia and North Africa. Grows in wet, moist soils along coastlines, in swamps, and on coasts in brackish waters.
Under favorable conditions, the plant forms a small bush up to 10–15 cm high from green leaves connected into a rosette. Depending on the external environment, the leaf blade has a lanceolate or obovate shape. Outwardly, it resembles young lettuce shoots.
Samolus Valeranda is able to grow successfully in a wide range of conditions. However, hard water with a neutral or alkaline pH is most preferred. Permissible content in salt water with a salt concentration of up to 30 g per 1 liter. Lighting is moderate or bright. The optimum temperature is up to 26°C. withstands short frosts.
Despite its adaptability, this plant does not grow well in aquariums. The best results are achieved in the surface position, for example, in paludariums. In the air, the plant develops denser leaves with large veins. Inflorescences appear regularly on long stems, reaching up to 50 cm in height.
