Maintenance and care
Red bees are kept in separate and less often in common aquariums with peaceful small fish. They are quite hardy and thrive and breed well in various pH and dGH ranges, however, breeders recommend soft, slightly acidic water. The substrate is soft with a lot of plants, which are also an additional source of food.
The diet is varied, shrimp accept all types of fish food. For expensive strains, special food supplied from Japan is used, but this is of little demand for ordinary aquarists. To avoid eating ornamental plants, chopped pieces of vegetables or fruits (carrots, cucumbers, lettuce, spinach, potatoes, apples, pears) are added to the aquarium.
Reproduction in the home aquarium is quite simple, with offspring appearing every 4-6 weeks. In the presence of fish, juveniles are in real danger of being eaten, so hiding places from plants, such as Riccia, are the best solution to the problem.
