Proper puppy training

In order for a puppy to be obedient, it must be trained. And it must be done correctly. What does proper puppy training mean?

Proper puppy training involves several components:

  1. Puppy training is carried out exclusively in the game.
  2. You must be consistent. The rules you set apply anytime, anywhere. Dogs don’t understand “exceptions.” What you allowed once, according to the puppy, is always allowed.
  3. Persistence. Proper puppy training means that if you give a command, get it done.
  4. Reasonable requirements. It is wrong to demand from a puppy what you have not taught him yet. Or too sharply increase the requirements and complicate the task. Remember that dogs don’t generalize well.
  5. Clarity of requirements. If you behave inconsistently, flicker, give conflicting signals, do not expect your pet to obey you – because he simply will not understand what you want from him.
  6. Don’t be afraid of mistakes. If the puppy makes a mistake, don’t get angry or panic. It just means that you should think about what you are doing wrong and correct your actions.
  7. Be attentive to your pet. If the puppy is not feeling well, scared or stressed, proper training is not possible. It is important to provide suitable conditions for training.
  8.  Be aware of your emotions. If you’re irritated or too tired, it’s better to skip the class than ruin your puppy’s learning and interactions with you. Proper puppy training should be fun for all involved.
  9. Move from simple to complex, break the task into small steps and introduce complications gradually.
  10. Don’t forget that the puppy shows you what you reinforce. A dog learns 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The only question is what exactly you are teaching your pet at a particular moment.
