#ProkoniBestExercises: top dressage exercises from Marina Aframeeva and Stanislav Cherednichenko

Prokoni.ru continues the column #ProkoniBestExercises: top dressage exercises from dressage riders. We hope you will be able to find answers to your questions and find out what exercises are present in the daily work of the leading riders in Russia and beyond.

  • Stanislav Cherednichenko, Master of Sports, member of the Russian national dressage team, performing at Lobito Cen and Kolien, as well as at the Latvian Arums, which was previously in the work of the leading horsewoman of Belarus, Anni Karasevoi, answered our questions: “Before the main work, I always do relaxation exercises: the first trot at the bottom, traverse and ranvers at 20 meters, a lot of rises and transitions from trot to walk, from canter to walk, from canter to trot. I pay a lot of attention to contractions and additions – this is all very important for the horse to learn to hear you. Also, I work a lot on the move.

My hack is very simple. Basically, before the start, I am with the horse most of the time. We set ourselves up for victory together: I stroke her and talk to her, so we approach the start in a complete emotional idyll. Naturally, before an important start there is excitement, but it immediately disappears as soon as I sit on the horse. Then I understand that we are united, and we will succeed.”

We also asked Stanislav what should be paid special attention to during transitions, and before which tournament he was more worried: «Particular attention should be paid to the transitions so that the horse brings his hind legs under the body, does not resist, remains down and is relaxed.

Each start is important, regardless of the rank of the competition: whether it is the European Championship or just competitions within the club – the excitement is always the same, because you always want to achieve a good result».

  • Olympic equestrian Marina Aframeeva, Master of Sports, who previously competed on the Hannover Wax, also shared her favorite exercises: “My favorite exercise is the volt, it is the most difficult! I also really like to work half-pirouettes on the walk and leg yields – these are all exercises from the basic training of the horse.

On the circles, special attention should be paid to the balance of the horse, because he must independently carry himself and his shoulders evenly. So many horses are “transplanted”, then there are problems with elements where flexion is required. On the volt, everything becomes immediately visible. And, of course, you have to be gentle.».

Marina shared her life hacks: «My life hack is (suitable for those who are nervous at competitions): I I ride three times a week. I can pass the youth test, the small prize or something from the grand prize. Dressage is constant repetition. Also, try to remove the spurs once a week and work without them, you will immediately understand how much your horse hears the leg. Everything is simple!».
