Persicaria Porto Velho

Persicaria Porto Velho, scientific name Persicaria sp. Porto Velho. The plant is native to the northern regions of South America. It was first discovered in the Brazilian municipality of Porto Velho (port. Porto Velho), which is reflected in the name of this species.

The plant outwardly resembles the common Persicaria (Persicaria praetermissa), which grows in Asia. It has large elongated arrow-shaped leaves, located alternately on the stem. Bright light and a sufficient amount of nutrients contribute to the acquisition of leaves of contrasting reddish-brown hues, while the veins of the leaf blade remain greenish.

In aquaria, young shoots have vertically oriented stems, but tend to grow horizontally as they grow.

Persicaria Porto Velho makes rather low demands on its content. The aquarist will need to provide soft nutrient soil, warm, slightly acidic water with medium to low hardness values, and a high level of lighting. Dim light causes the lower leaves to wilt.

In large aquariums, it is recommended to use in the middle ground in the center of the composition, to provide access to light. In small tanks it is acceptable to place in the background.
