persicaria
Persicaria, scientific name Persicaria Hydropiperoides. The natural habitat of this plant extends from South to North America. It occurs everywhere in shallow water along the banks of swamps, lakes and other slow-flowing water bodies. Grows partially or completely submerged in water.
The plant is very variable. There are many regional varieties. Growth conditions also significantly affect the appearance. In aquariums, the most common forms are those with upright reddish stems and elongated lanceolate green leaves arranged alternately. The only universal way to identify this species is the inflorescence with tiny white flowers.
It is considered unpretentious and hardy plant. Persicaria is able to grow in a wide range of conditions, including low light environments. However, the best appearance is achieved in a spacious aquarium from 150 liters with bright light and nutrient-rich substrate.
When making it is recommended to use in the background in the form of dense thickets. Against its background, red plants or species with bright green leaves look great.
