Peristolifolia fir-tree

Peristolistka fir-tree or Urut fir-tree, scientific name Myriophyllum aquaticum “Green”. This species is native to the fresh waters of the Americas. As a garden and aquarium plant, it was brought to Europe and Asia, but eventually got into the wild, successfully taking root in the tropical zone. Known in the aquarium hobby for decades. For a long time it was called Myriophyllum elatinoides. Much later it was established that this name refers to a completely different species, but it has become so firmly established in everyday life (in numerous literature, on the site) that it is now considered a synonym.

The prefix “Green” means that this is a female plant, that is, it forms flowers that have only carpels. Accordingly, the male plant has only stamens and is called Urut aquatic – it is presented for sale as a separate species due to external differences.

Perististolochny fir-tree has an erect stem, reaching a height of up to 30 cm, with a weak root system. Pinnate leaves are attached to the stem with a short petiole and are divided into thin fragments resembling spruce needles in color and shape. Dark green, emerald color.

Relatively easy to maintain. Perfectly adapts to a wide range of temperatures and is not demanding on the level of illumination. For normal rooting, soft soil is required. In a mature aquarium with fish, additional feeding is not required.
