Parrot and other inhabitants of the house

Before you start a parrot, you should think: can he get along with other inhabitants of the house?

parrot and children

Many children ask to buy them a parrot. Especially if you have witnessed the tricks of a hand-held bird from friends or acquaintances. This can be beneficial: watching a feathered friend helps to relax, and the need to care for him forms responsibility and discipline. However, before getting a bird for a child, weigh the pros and cons. Children under 8 years old really appreciate the opportunity to cuddle a pet, stroke, take. But parrots rarely enjoy it. In addition, they are frightened by the sudden involuntary movements of young children. As for large parrots (macaws, jacos, cockatoos), caution is required when dealing with them – they are able to show aggression. Therefore, it is advisable to start a bird when your child goes to at least the second grade. At this age, they are more conscious of their relationship with animals.

Teach your child how to properly handle a feathered friend.

First of all, if it is a parrot, it must be tamed. Show your child how to do it. Then pour food into the heir’s open palm and approach the bird very carefully. It is important to avoid uncoordinated, abrupt movements. Do not be rude to animals. Explain to the children that they are the same sentient beings as people. It is desirable to involve the child in the feasible care of the pet. However, keep in mind that he may not be ready to take full responsibility for another living being.

Parrot and other pets

As a rule, birds get along well with other pets. The exception is cats and dogs with a strong hunting instinct. It is quite difficult to wean them from hunting birds, since hunting is part of their natural essence. Therefore, in order to avoid stress for both, it is better not to start a bird if you have a cat or a kitten or a hunting dog is planned.
