Panda goldfish
Panda goldfish, English trade name Panda Goldfish. The name is collective for several varieties that share similar black and white body colors. Initially, this coloration was exclusive to the Black telescopes, which did not fully show the dark pigment, which led to the appearance of light areas of the body. To date, some other decorative varieties, such as Ryukin and Oranda, have also acquired two-tone colors.
However, the classic “Panda” are the descendants of the Telescopes. At a young age of up to 30 days, their appearance resembles juvenile Nymphs with a golden color. Only by five to six weeks the body brightens and black spots begin to appear. In some cases, orange and yellow colors do not completely disappear. From this point on, there is also a gradual increase in the eyes. Thus, black and white coloration is typical only for adult fish.
The remaining morphological features (body and tail shape) are determined by the specific breed, which became the basis for the “Panda”. As a rule, fish have an ovoid body and a large forked tail. The most popular forms are “Butterflies”.
Maintenance and care
It is recommended to keep in relatively cool water, for example, in unheated aquariums (without heater), in open ponds. It is noted that high temperatures inhibit the production of black pigment, which may lead to incomplete staining.
The convex structure of the eyes does not contribute to visual acuity at all. These fish are blind and poorly distinguish objects. For this reason, objects with sharp edges should be avoided in aquarium design.
The shape of the body with a large tail fin is not conducive to fast swimming, which, coupled with poor eyesight, does not allow the “Panda” to compete effectively for food with more active fish. This is also important to consider when choosing aquarium neighbors.
Most popular dry, frozen and live foods are used as the basis of the daily diet. A good choice would be special foods for Goldfish, produced by many manufacturers.
