Otitis in dogs and cats

Otitis is the general name for inflammation in the ear. It can be external (affects the ear to the tympanic membrane), middle (department with auditory ossicles) and internal (department in close proximity to the brain).

If, with timely access to a specialist, external otitis media can be easily cured within a few days, then internal otitis media poses a serious threat to the life of the animal. Otitis media is considered quite common and in the case of prompt and high-quality treatment does not pose a threat to health, however, delay or incorrectly selected drugs can lead to hearing loss and the development of internal otitis media.
