Nymphea green

Nymphea green, scientific name Nymphea glandulifera. In nature, it is widely distributed in Central and South America in stagnant water bodies (swamps, lakes). It grows in well-lit places in shallow water on silty substrates.

It is worth noting that the Russian-language name “Green Nymphaeum” is also conceived as a synonym for the Green Tiger Nymphaeum, so before buying it is important to clarify which plant we are talking about.

In favorable conditions, forms a compact bush. Unlike other Nymphaeums, it has relatively compact bright green leaves, reaching a diameter of about 4–8 cm. The leaf blade has a rounded shape with a slightly wavy edge. In some cases, glossy floating leaves may appear, but this rarely happens in aquariums.

Nymphea green grows well in soft warm water on clay soils, forming a dense cluster. A high level of illumination is preferred. However, it is able to adapt to other environments, such as sandy soil and slightly alkaline water of medium hardness. But in this case, the bush will be less voluminous, and the leaves will be smaller.

Successful keeping is possible only in a heated aquarium (with a heater). At low temperatures, it quickly fades and may die.
