Moss Khao Sok
Moss Khao Sok, scientific name Taxiphyllum taxirameum. It has an extensive natural habitat. Found in the Americas and throughout Asia. Despite such a wide distribution for study purposes, it was first collected only in the early 2000s in the Khao Sok National Park in Thailand by Benito C. Tan, professor of biology from Singapore.
In nature, it mainly grows on semi-submerged snags and stones, on the slopes of waterfalls, along the water’s edge and other wet surfaces. However, Khao Sok moss thrives underwater. For this reason, it was included among the aquarium species.
Outwardly, it resembles Java moss (Taxiphyllum barbieri). Twigs are moderately branched. The branching and density of the cluster is determined by the intensity of light and the presence of nutrients.
Easy to grow, undemanding to the hydrochemical composition of water, able to grow even in relatively cool water from 12°C. In an aquarium, it is recommended to place it on any surfaces, for example, the same snags and stones. Do not plant outdoors.
