Meat in cat food

Today, pet stores offer a huge range of ready-made cat food, and each line is characterized by its own characteristics and composition. How not to make a mistake in choosing and offer your pet exactly the diet that fully meets his needs for good nutrition?

First of all, we pay attention to the main ingredient in the composition of the feed.

All cats, no matter how tame they are and no matter how much they love to bask on the couch, remain real predators, as evidenced by their anatomical features.

In the wild, cats feed mainly on meat (the diet is diluted with bird eggs obtained from nests). They prey on birds, rodents, less often eat insects and reptiles. Plant foods are practically not included in the cat’s diet. However, a small amount of it enters the cat’s body from the contents of the stomachs of prey and has its positive effect. However, the cat’s body is not adapted to digesting a large amount of plant food – and this should be taken into account when choosing a finished product.

With proper natural feeding, cereals and some vegetables are included in the cat’s diet, but only as a supplement to high-quality meat food. This rule must be followed when choosing ready-made feeds, first of all, focusing on meat.

Meat is the main ingredient in the highest quality cat food. Manufacturers of super premium and premium diets take into account the natural nutritional needs of pets and present a product that fully satisfies them.

However, the diet of the diet is different, and even the most meat (but not of high quality) product may not bring any benefit. Make sure that the composition of the feed does not include artificial preservatives, flavor enhancers and dyes. Of course, flavor enhancers contribute to the palatability of the food, but with frequent use they negatively affect the nervous system and retina, which is confirmed by numerous studies. But if you do not buy food with flavor enhancers, then what about four-legged picky eaters whose culinary preferences are difficult to please?

Try offering them rations of selected fresh meats that have been carefully controlled during production and have not been frozen. High-quality meat naturally increases the palatability of the feed, and is also much easier for the body to digest.

Thus, the best choice for a pet predator is a ready-made food, in which the main ingredient is not cereals, as is often the case, but quality dehydrated meat. Do not forget to read the detailed information about the composition (pay attention to the balance of vitamins, minerals and other useful elements), the purpose of the diet and feeding recommendations, which are indicated on the front or back of the package.
