Ludwigia Mexico City
Ludwigia Mexico City, trade name Ludwigia repens “Mesakana”. According to Kasselman’s Aquarium Plants, 3rd edition, 2010. This variety is one of the varieties of Ludwigia creeping. The presence in the name of the prefix “Mesakana”, which means “Mexican” in Italian, indicates the supposed region of origin. It is not known for certain whether it appeared in nature or in the course of artificial selection.
Outwardly, it resembles the mother plant Ludwig Repens, but differs from it in the size and shape of the leaves. The leaf blades are slightly larger, elongated and orange or reddish in color at the top of the plant. The lower leaves are green.
Although Ludwigia Mexico City is considered easy to grow, depending on growing conditions, the plant will look different. The best spring appearance is achieved in soft, acidic water, high light levels and the presence of nutritious soil.
This variety is characterized by the periodic death of some sprouts, which occurs for no apparent reason. And the rest, even growing in close proximity, will feel good.
